Thoroughly missing the UK- easily one of the best holidays of my life. Went there for 2 weeks in December of 2011 and we drove around the country. We visited London, Oxford, Liverpool, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Birmingham & Manchester. It was just my parents & I but we had one heck of a time. I think my favourite holidays are always those where we go free & easy because you get to explore on your own, and you're not restricted by schedules thrown together by other people, or shuttled around to tourist attraction after attraction. You get to go off into hidden lanes and walk down little alleyways without any tour guides waving their flags and urging you to stay with the group. You get to eat at cosy, homely, family-run restaurants with generations worth of family portraits proudly hanging off the walls. You have the freedom to have a ridiculously heavy breakfast at 9am, get hungry at 4pm and drink house brews of beer (my dad), eat dinner, then have a 10pm snack of warm churros and hot chocolate from the Christmas market. You get to spend hours at Primark or Urban Outfitters, then go for scones & tea at Dolly's afterward.
Well, we did all of that and more & these pictures are only a pinch of what we photographed. They do no justice to the actual beauty of the U.K. at Christmas time (absolutely lovely). My heart aches to go back there and I cannot wait for my next trip back there. CROSSING MY FINGERS SO BAD that hopefully, it'll be this year at Christmas to visit Ben in Leeds!
