I first watched this film about 9 months ago, while en route to Spain and by the end of it, I was bawling my eyes out. I was full-on ugly-crying when the air stewardess came to me and asked me if I would like to have the chicken or the fish. Behind hot tears and blurry eyes, I told her I wanted the chicken, and then she asked me if I was okay (LOL).

But anyway, it was a heart-breakingly beautiful film and I don't know why I didn't get started on the book earlier. Very generally, the story's about a dystopian version of contemporary England where clones are raised solely for their futures as organ donors. The story revolves around 3 characters, starting off with idyllic childhoods who, as they grow up, try to come to terms with their inescapable fate. I just finished the book a few days ago and it was a really good read, despite the fact that it was less emotionally-charged, and carried more of an overtone of resignation as compared to its film counterpart. It felt a lot warmer though, and I loved how I'd felt like I'd watched the characters grow up as the novel progressed.

I'd recommend reading the book first before watching the film. But if you don't have time to spare, at least make sure you have tissues ready by your side for the movie. ;P
