Neuschwanstein Castle is in South-West Bavaria and is most famous for being the inspiration for the castle in Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Apart from being home to two beautiful castles, Füssen, the town it is in also had a peaceful lake with mountains forming a backdrop worthy of a fairytale.

Be warned, this tourist attraction is not the easiest to get to. We took a train and then had to switch to a bus to get there. After battling long queues at the ticket counter, we then had to hike up a really steep (realllllly steep) mountain to get to the actual castle. The inside of the castle isn't entirely complete, so the guided tour only takes you around a few of the finished rooms which was a little disappointing. However, as nice as it is on the inside, I'd say the real view is from a frighteningly-fragile bridge located another 15 minute hike away. Now, that's a good view.
